I'm not sure about all the bad reviews for this hotel. I mean, it's not the Hilton but it's definitely a decent place to hang out for a bit. We're here overnight prior to heading to Port Everglades for our cruise. Our usual hotel is closed for renovations so we picked this onel because it offers a free shuttle from the airport and a reasonably priced shuttle from the hotel to the cruise port. The hotel sits next to a Denny's and a Mcdonald's, there's a convenience store across the street and halfway up the block is a sub shop, so it's perfect for us, as a holding spot till we can get on the boat. I'm impressed by the cleanliness. The hotel appears to have been updated somewhat recently.The pool is nice. The rooms are spacious. They offer a decent breakfast (free!) with a waffle maker, scrambled eggs and sausage. There's several cold cereal choices, toast, bagels, oatmeal and juices. An employee was quick to wipe up any spills and kept the counter clean as people were forging through. The staff.... they are short staffed, like just about every industry these days. BUT! This place could be a real dive and I wouldn't have even noticed because the staff is phenomenal. When we checked in yesterday there was one guy handling the whole front desk answering the phones, sending out shuttles, checking people in. I've never seen so much kindness and patience in a person's tone as I witnessed while I was standing waiting to do whatever it was I was there to do. I stood nearby as this young man was talking to someone on the phone and just from hearing his end, I learned that this would not be a job for me. I would have hung up on that caller 3 minutes before he kindly said "my pleasure" and softly hung up the phone. Best Western must have sent him to an extensive phone answering skill/patience class.

Our travel agent told us we would have to pay $200-$300 minimum for our 1-night stay in Ft. Lauderdale. But I researched and found our room for $125, next to 2 very expensive hotels. Breakfast left something to be desired. Location was great. Shuttle was waiting at the curb of the airport. Room seemed to be renovated, but table lamps needed new shades. Bath had been remodeled. Morning shuttle was readily available and was only $15 to port. Overall a GREAT DEAL!

The staff was nice. Ms.Caleen I believe was her name was amazing and very helpful. Her expertise and customer service was top notch. There was another younger woman there maybe in her early twenties who we loved as well. She was very friendly and helpful as well. Such a sweetheart. Wish i remembered her name.

The room was very good. Cozy and comfortable. It was big and it offered free coffee in the room. Also there was free coffee in the lobby available 24/7. The location of the hotel was very good, just off the highway.
